Dear Friends of Historic Preservation,

F.Q. Story Historic District’s Home Tour is designated by the Story Preservation Association, Inc. (the SPA), which is a 501(c)(3) organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, and benevolent purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”). The SPA’s primary mission is to support and work to preserve the F.Q. Story Historic District.

The F.Q. Story Preservation Association (SPA) is a volunteer-based non-profit neighborhood organization that was formed in 1982 to protect our neighborhood during the completion of the I-10 freeway. The money we raised from our original home tours funded the Historic Preservation process, saving several homes from additional demolition and placed our neighborhood on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Over the years, Story has continued preservation efforts to protect the residential integrity of the neighborhood, completed projects that improved our neighborhood, and funded programs that foster a sense of community. This has been made possible by the numerous home tours over the years and the proceeds of the ticket sales from our valued patrons. The neighborhood was able to add monument signage designed to stay in character with the historic neighborhood, to share "The Story of Story" and promote local artists through commissioned wall murals, creating more shade by sponsoring programs with homeowners to add trees in the streetscapes, beautification projects like the addition of landscape and maintenance along 15th Avenue, various lighting projects, and much more.

While preservation is the main goal, it is also important for us to support our local community through conservancy memberships and to give back to causes that are important to us.

This year, our goal is to continue to raise an adequate amount of support for the exceptional students who attend the nearby and unique Franklin Police & Fire High School.

We hope to give this advantage to the Franklin children by adding a donation button to not only provide funding for scholarships, but to also cover expensive community college courses and test fees, art supplies, clothing, cleaning supplies and graduation accessories.
As a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all donations to the home tour are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided for tax purposes upon request.

Donations provided to Franklin Police & Fire High School go to the following:

     - Story funded scholarships
     - Student fees for pre-college testing exam programs
     - Graduation gowns and Honor Student accessories
     - Items teachers pay for from their own pocket
     - “Student Government Food Pantry” (a gifting program providing food for students experiencing scarcity at home)
     - And many other needs.

Franklin students must contribute many volunteer hours to the community. Students have done yeoman work in removing trash and cleaning up our alleys, spiffed up streets, yards and sidewalks prior to Home tour, and helped with post-home tour clean-up.

Thank you in advance for your giving your valuable time to take the tour, for consideration in contributing to Story Preservation Association, Inc., to the Franklin Police & Fire High School and for your support of our mission and purpose.
