Living Areas

Walk into almost any home in F.Q. Story and you are getting an up-close look at what a “living” room really is: The place where people live. Our homes hark from an era that pre-dated great rooms. Here, most rooms are distinct from each other, separated by doors or archways.
Fireplaces are a common sight in many homes, forming the focal point of a cozy front room. Fun fact: Many of these hearths lack a damper, although some homeowners have retrofitted their fireplaces. The Story living rooms feature built-in cabinets, original wood flooring and -- for the lucky homes -- original wall sconces, as you’ll see in some of these photos.
Windows abound. The styles range from crank-out wood windows to double-hung windows to statement-making arched windows. A grant program from the city helped many homeowners a few decades ago replace or restore their original windows, to protect the integrity of these historic homes.
